Intertextual reference: MC Hammer

We decided to use the dance from MC Hammer's 'U can't touch this' video as our intertextual reference in our music video. We chose this as it is a popular reference to use and it fits into our dance concept quite well.
We have already got a person who has a MC Hammer costume ready to be used in the video and we thought it would be very useful.

Cast of our music video

This is the cast for our music video. The first picture is of Thabo, the dancer who is going to be dancing at football practice and be distracted by the logos of DJ DELIRIOUS. The second picture of our second female dancer Paula who's going to break the style of dancing in a contemporary ballet style and switch to street dance. The third picture is of Lawrance and he is the dancer we replaced the first one with and he is going to be getting sent out of class for not paying attention to lesson and getting distracted by the song and logo of DJ DELIRIOUS. The last picture is of Priscilla, our last dancer and she is the one that is going to be sent of of church for been irresponsible and dancing whilst preaching is going on.
We haven't got a picture of who the DJ is on this post because we want it to be revealed in the music video.

Time Plan

This is the time plan we have made for our filming schedule, photo shoots for the music video promotion and digipacks and lastly editing. We have included on there all the times and dates we will be filming at. If anything changes, we can change it on the calendar but so far we have everything under control and we hope it stays that way.

Production Journal 7

Today Monday 28th November, we were supposed to film a dance scene with one one our dancers but unfortunately we couldn't do it today because the dancer was feeling a little ill and was too tired to do anything so we cancelled filming today. This is the second time we had to reschedule this dancers scene so me and my and other group member Sybill Scott decided to use somebody else for that scene and replace him. We have done a new schedule for all the filming and editing we will be doing over the next month.

Logo for DJ DELIRIOUS

The second logo is the one we've chosen to use as our logo for DJ DELIRIOUS however, we decided to put the other one we made on the blog to show that we had to consider different designs. We chose the first one because it communicates House music more because of the colourful background and the bright colours.

Feedback from our Pitch

These are the feedback we gave to the members of our class to give their opinion of our music video idea after listening to our pitch. The first one is from our teacher and her main criticism was the age target audience needed to be low and we have already made those changes. Also, she thought we need to make sure all the people in the club scene need to be confirmed if they can do so the club scene looks realistic. She thought our idea of dance was very good because it is very current right now and it will fit in the music industry which is very important for anew artist like ours.
The feedback we got from other members also thought that casting would need to be sorted our carefully and after that lesson we went to the dance teacher at our school and we made sure she could provide all the dancers we asked for, and all we needed to do was tell her when and where we needed them in advance. However, most of them thought our concept was good and the incorporation of a logo in the music video to be able to identify DJ DELIRIOUS.

This is the pitch we did for our Music Video to the whole class and our teacher. Our animatic was not included in this pitch because we couldn't save it on our memory stick but we will be posting it individually on this blog.

Production Journal 6

Today we pitched our whole idea for our music video to the whole class and our Media Studies teacher. The pitch included details about your band/artist, including which record label they're signed to, what their ideology is and who their target audience is. Synopsis of the video, including details of performance and/or narrative elements, location shots and any costume images. Our animatic. An explanation of how we have used Goodwin's elements within the video. Lastly an explanation of why we have decided on this concept and how it will appeal to the target audience and 'fit' into the music industry.

Overall the pitch went really good and the only criticism we got from our teacher was that our target audience was too high because originally our target audience was ages 14-30 but we had to reduce it to ages 14-25. The people in our class generally had good things to say about it and they concluded that we were ready for filming.

Evidence of Recce 1

These are the shots of some of the location we are going to be using that are not in school. The first image is outside of the gym/dance centre one of the dancers in the music video are going to be filmed in. The second image is also the dance centre. The thing we are going to be changing here is that when we film the dancer going into the dance centre for rehearsals, we are going to cut to the dance studio at school where we will be filming the dancers dance at.

The third image the path we are going to add logos of DJ DELIRIOUS that each dancer is going to have to walk past. The fourth image is the car park of the secret place that the dancers are going to find and this is where they will all meet up.

The fifth image is the door to the club scene that each dancer will open we tried taking a picture of us opening the door so we can see what it looks like open. The sixth image is the church we will also be filming one of the dancers in and we already asked for permission to film there. The last image is the entrance of the church and where we will also be adding logos of DJ DELIRIOUS.

Contract of Participation

This is the contract we gave to the dancers and the DJ that are participating in our music video. We wanted to make sure that they are committed and will not let us down when we want to film.
