Production Journal 5

Today we started to do our animatic of our storyboard on IMovie. We had to import the pictures of our storyboards onto the macs. We found out that we couldn't get all the shot on the camera because the types of shot and the length of shot weren't visible in the pictures we took. Also, when we first took the pictures they were blurry and then we changed the camera we were using and the quality of the pictures were better.

We also has difficulties timing each shot so it was all in time of the original track because the shots were a little long so we also had to shorten that.

Production Journal 4

Today we went out to take pictures of some of the location we are going to be filming at. The first place we went to was the location of the secret place the dancers are going to find at the end of the video. We had to ask for permission from the people who worked there before taking pictures to see if it would be ok to film there. When we started taking pictures we realized the lighting in the entrance of the location was a little bit dark, so we would have to make sure it is bright when we film.

We also, went to the location of the dance studio one of the dancers is going to be filmed at. The owners of the dance studio were ok with us filming as long as we don't film inside of the dance studio. We agreed because we only needed to film Paula who is in the video will only need to be shot going in the studio and then we will cut it so that she is in a dance studio at school.

Lastly we went to the pastor of the church we are going to be filming at to ask permission and write us a letter to see if it was ok to film inside the church. Although, we will only be filming in the youth church we wanted to see if it would be ok to film inside and if it was ok for the other members of church to be filmed as well.
We didn't really discover any other problems when we went to get evidence of recce apart from the ones stated above. The only things left to do is to finish our animatic and we would be ready to film.

Production Plan

This production plan is to help us sort out all the things we need from now till we finish filming. The first thing we need to sort out is to finish our animatic of our storyboard.

The animatic would be done on imovie and we would need to put on song over it to portray how we want it to look.We have found the location we are going to shoot at and they are: in front of a church, at a bus-stop, in front of a gym centre, a dram room(club scene), a dance studio and a classroom.

We need take evidence of recce of the location we are going to be filming at because it will help us make sure if the lighting of the place is ok and and if the places are going to ok when we decide to film. We also need to inform the cast and dancers in the music video when they are going to be needed so they are not preoccupied on the day we are going to film.

We won't be needing any props for the dancers in our music video, but we will be needing a DJ turntable for the DJ to use. We also need to inform the dancers that are going to be in the club scene to wear clothes they can dance in and something bright so we can see them in an also because that's the theme for our music video.

The last thing we need to do after we have sorted things out is to schedule the dates we will be filming on and how long we will be filming for so that everyone is involved and know what they are supposed to be doing.

Production Journal 3

In this week's lesson we started to draw each shots that we will film for our music video on opur storyboard. In my group we decided that we will write each shot down on paper first before we draw it on our storyboard because we didn't want to make any mistakes. Also, because both members of my group are not very creative so we are not very good at drawing, we found it a difficult trying to show what each shot will look like on the storyboard. That was the only difficulty we faced when drawing our storyboard.

We wrote down what each shot will look like on the storyboard beacuse of the lack of our ability to draw properly. Also, to make sure some of the shots we have match the lyrics, we printed out a copy of the lyrics but, next time when we draw our storyboard we have to make sure we download the song on our Ipods so we hear the song while we plan.

Audience Feedback

We pitched our Music Video ideas to our class and we got some feedback and what they thought was good, and what we needed work on.

We discussed who we were going to cast as DJ delirious to act as a DJ in our music video an we decided that we were going to use a member of staff at school who has an idea on how to run a club. We also discussed health&safety rules in the club shot because the room we are going to use has faulty lights on the ceiling so we would have to make sure the room was available to use when we need it because of the cast in our music videos.

We discussed the mise-en-scene in the room we are going to shoot in and the class suggested that we have to make sure all the things in the room we are going to film in should be cleared before we get there because otherwise the quality of the video won't be as good.
They also gave feedback on the cast and dancers in the video and they said that we would have to make sure a ll of them are committed before the day of shooting to avoid any inconveniences and people not turning up.

Lastly, our teacher told us that we would have to make sure the lighting in the room was stable and working and we also had to make sure that whilst shooting that the lighting was really good.

Digipacks

Describe what a digipack is.
A digipack is a CD release of an artist or a band in paper cardboard packaging instead of plastic with an ongoing colour theme.

What are the codes and conventions?
The codes and conventions of a digipack are it has the name of a record label at the back of the digipack. It may also have the lyrics of the song inside the digipack. The website of the artist(s) will also be included in the digipack. Copyright information of the song will be included at the back of the digipack. A barcode will also be included. The name of the song and the name of the artist will be included on the spine so when its on a CD rack. A parental advisory note may be included if the song contains some swear words.

Why would a record label choose to release a digipack rather, than a CD in a jewel case?
Record labels release digipacks because they are good for promo copies to give to consumers.

Are there added benefits for the consumer when buying a digipack?
A digipack may be smaller than normal CD album. A digipack may give something else to a consumer when they buy it, it allows a consumer to feel like they are getting something extra.

Inspiration for the club scene in our Music Video

This song and the club scene at the end of it has given me and my group member a lot of inspiration for how we want the dancers and clubbers to interact with each other when we film that scene. This song is house/dance song so its message is about dance and love and luckily so is ours.
We want each dancer to showcase their dance in the middle while people surround them as is shown in this video. This is also where we will reveal the DJ and this will fit in with how we will edit it.
The difficulties we miight face when we film this scene is the amount of people that will be at the club and getting the location we want to use as the club to look as good as it does in this video.

Moodboard

This is the moodboard for our initial ideas for what we wanted our music video to look like. We included various pictures to show the type of people we wanted to cast in our video. We included pictures of male and female dancers because thats what the video will be based on dance. We also made sure we got a specific picture of dancers because we wanted people who could dance to house music rather than another genre of music like disco.
We also, included a picture of what we wanted the DJ we would cast although the picture looks unrealistic to the type of person we would eventually get, it was just to give us an idea and be a guide for us.

We also said what shots would be shown when the lyrics'I found a place' was playing. We wanted the dancers in the video to be shown looking for a place to dance until they all meet and find a place they can dance together. The colours were also meant to portray the feel and what the lighting would like in the video. We wanted the lighting to be bright but the setting would be preferably dark.
The font for the name of our artist 'DJ Deliriuos' was also chosen carefully because we wanted it to be bold and to be able to be seen. The colour we chose was also deliberate be make it visible in the midst of all the bright colours.
